There are two main types of call centers; inbound and outbound. Inbound call centers take the calls, and outbound call centers make the calls! Extensive experience is not required for these call center jobs because agents usually go through a couple of weeks of training.

What does a typical day look like for a call center agent?

Inbound call centers receive calls from current customers looking for assistance. Agents assist with customer issues, schedule appointments, and give instructions over the phone.

Outbound call centers, also known as telemarketing centers, make outgoing calls to potential or current customers. Outbound calling agent jobs are most likely sales-oriented and operate off a cold calling list. This type of job can take numerous calls before making a sale.
